Turning back the clock 15 years...

So... the other week I was in a short film that was set in the 90s. Bjork, Backstreet Boys and S Club 7 days. I was reminiscing on how it was the best, fake house party I'd been to as we had to mosh pit around the lounge room, in the craziest 90s outfits to the sounds of Nirvana and Steps. It then sent me into a spiral of google imaging and tumblr'ing and all sorts on the Spice Girls.
They were my MOST favourite pop group in the 90s and I thought I would take you all on a little trip down memory lane...
From lollipops to video games these girls were my idols and I cannot tell you how hard I tried to be Sporty Spice. Although shes not quite my favourite Spice sister now, I would dress like her and do my hair like her every day. I even asked my mum to make me a pair of crushed velvet flairs (oh how I wish I still had them now) and I would wear it with tiny grey crop tops and runners and as stupid as is seems now, I used to practice perfecting her autograph so I could 'sign' photos of 'myself' when my friends and I would play Spice Girls dress ups.
Those were the days, when you have arguments with your best friend who was obsessed with Hanson and you would debate why the 3 blonde haired brothers were way better than Scary, Sporty, Baby, Posh and Ginger.
At primary school during recess and lunch time, we would beg our arts teachers to use the art room so we could choreograph the Spice Girls dance moves. Wow.
I miss those days and would donate my kidney to relive them for a night.... I'm thinking whipping out the 'Tiny Little Buns' hairstyle that Scary and Bjork have rocked AND I am desperately now on the hunt for white platform runners....

Scary Spice/Melanie Brown - Now famous for Jenny Craig weight loss and her judging on Australian Talent shows

Posh Spice/Victoria Adams now Victoria Beckham - Currently recognised for her amazing clothing label and popping out boys with David Beckham

Sporty Spice/Melanie Chisholm - Since leaving the Spice Girls has made 6 Albums and sold millions

Baby Spice/Emma Bunton - Has release a couple of Albums and hit singles and is now focusing more on Radio and Television work

Ginger Spice/Geri Halliwell - Released a couple albums, starred in a UK Documentary, wrote a biography, judged on Popstars and the X factor, released 2 Yoga DVDs, has a contract for writing children's books AND will be releasing her own Bikini line.

SPICE GIRLS BARBIES! I think I owned all of them but so wish I kept them all perfect and in tact.

Yup! Spice Girl deodorant. I went through cans of this stuff
For Christmas one year my mum bought me a whole bucket of Spice Girl lollipops..
I remember having this but hardly remember if it was any good or not... I don't think game wise it was much of hit

A different world...

Good afternoon lovers and dreamers!
I hope you all had an incredible long weekend however you may have spent it...
I spent my long weekend whipping my pastel stained hair and stomping my anklet wrapped feet away to the spiritual, chill out, hardcore sounds of Rainbow Serpent.
We drove up on the Friday afternoon, set up camp along with 30 other people, then headed out to the stages and man was it incredible.
The lights, the music, the people! The whole vibe was so happy and energetic its a place I could easily call home.
During the day we relaxed on the couches or hammocks under the country trees and sipped on iced spice chai tea, eating lentils, wood fire pizza and fresh coconuts mixed with goji berries and cinnamon.
We danced til the sunset, then danced til the sunrise. There is no anger or hate or bad energy at Rainbow. Everyone loves everyone and there's not one frown in sight.
There are no words I feel can express truly how eye opening this festival is. 8am yoga classes, midday hula dancing lessons, mask and fairy wing making sessions for the kids. A gallery filled with THE most incredible artwork that literally comes to life in front of your eyes, market stalls with ALL the tie dyed clothes and crystal amethyst jewellery you could dream of!
Its actually impossible to describe you will have to purchase a ticket and experience it for yourself next January.

The below photos have been taken off google and the Rainbow Serpent website as my photos do not do the festival as much justice as these do:
The hammock lounge
Market Stage
Holy Cow chai tent where you can relax and enjoy live music or stand up comedy

Straya day...

I would like to take this opportunity to address the current issue of racism that surrounds Australia Day.
I see Australia as THE most multicultural country in the world and I wouldn't have it any other way.
The different cultures that help build and sustain our economy, and keep my taste buds tantalised should be recognised and embraced.. not discriminated and rejected.

‘It’s vital for all of us to start having the courage to speak out and change and identify those little things in everyday life that make a lot of our fellow citizens really miserable,’
This was quoted by Prof. Sandy Gifford of the La Trobe Refugee and Research Centre. Shes identified so much racial slur in the lead up to Aus Day.
We need to pull our racial thoughts back.

Someone asked me what I considered to be a true Australian. The first thing that naturally popped into my head were figures such as Julia Gillard and Steve Irwin, with that true Aussie accent.
But that wasn't my answer. My answer was anyone that can embrace and accept multiculturalism. THAT is a true Australian.

Imagine life in Melbourne (or anywhere else around Aus) without China Town, Little Italy and Little Spain? Little Vietnam or even all the Muslim and Lebanese bakeries? Melbourne, would NOT be Melbourne.

Australia has been voted one of the best livable countries in the world and after travelling to other countries you can definitely understand why.
Lets not forget the true owners of the land. Aboriginals should be equally treated as all other 'Australians'.
I saw a meme one day that had a picture of an Aboriginal and the caption was "You have a problem with boat people? So did we."
So before we go and judge and discriminate against 'boat people' just stop and remember that dating back to 1770, we are boat people too.

Happy Straya day...

Summer in the city

I am sure I can speak for all of you when I say summer is the best time of year. Especially in the city of Melbourne. The city is alive and is filled with inexplicably happy people. During the working week we live for lunch breaks and we buzz with excitement knowing that at end of the day we can venture out to a city rooftop bar,  head down for a dip in the ocean or wine and dine at our favourite restaurants. We either jet-set off to balmy locations or we pack up our cars and head out on road trips with our best  friends to unknown destinations for tropical drinks, salty skin and endless miles of sand.

Grimes & Candy...

Who I'm loving at the moment.. (well I've been lesbianicly in love with her for months and months)
Claire Boucher! She is the genius behind the chillingly amazing music of 'Grimes'
Her look is so versatile with a mixture of flawless and grunge... and who doesn't love a musically, vocally talented, Russian literature and Neuroscience studying Ballerina?
Shes definitely an all rounder that's been on my radar for months and I am OBSESSED with her music.. and for a bit of eye 'candy' you should check out her crazy focus for the film clip Genesis, Brooke Candy.
She's one crazy mumma-cita that always gets my attention... (pictured at bottom)

Rainbow Serpent... 21 sleeps to go!

I couldnt be more ecstatic that there are only 21 more sleeps to go until Rainbow Serpent Arts, Culture and Music Festival that focuses on uniting all walks of life to come together. It is derived from the Aboriginal dreamtime story about the Rainbow Serpent.
It's a 5 day experience that will leave you wanting more. They hold exhibitions, tutorials and workshops to open your mind and soul. Why not wake up at 7am and take a yoga class with a dreadlocked hippy? Why not down a few bevvies and make fairy wings with a huge bunch of excited children, and why the hell not spend 45 minutes in the meditation tent?
It really is an experience of a lifetime. The people, the culture, the food stalls, art stalls and the biggest attraction.. the MUSIC!
With many different music genres including House, Dubstep, Progressive and Psy Trance, Electro, Ambient and much much more... this festival is literally for anyone.
During the day, lie down on the couch under the trees and sip on the INCREDIBLE chai latte from the chai Tent, swing on a hammock in the Hammock arena or dance your bot bot away to the bands and DJs at one of the many tents. They also hold their very own POOL PARTY in town on the Saturday!
During the night, relax on a haystack and watch a movie at the open air cinema or wave your arms around like a crazy person, not giving a care in the world to minimal, electro or hard trance.
I know I had THE best time last January, and I cannot wait to join people from all over the country again in only 21 days!
Did I mention you can take as much of your own booze as you want? Massive perk.....
Bring it on RS!!!!

New Year, New beginnings...

Welcome everyone to the year 2013!! Hopefully this year will be just
as amazing as 2012 (without the silly Mayans 'end of the world' predictions)
I hope you all had a superb Christmas and an even more incredible New Years Eve! I know I certainly did! I spent 6 days in the extremely remote and secluded town of Woods Point.
It takes about 2 and half hours to drive there, (4 hours if you get lost like me) but the drive was well worth it! What was even more worth it was the insane party we had to bring in the new year.
We had organised our very own DJ booth, smoke machines, laser lights and fairy lights to set up all around the woods and it turned out to be my best NYE yet!!! I, of course, channeled my inner Hippy and wore flowers in my hair, bathed in the river/lagoons and danced barefoot til the sun came up...

We now have Nail Art in stock! Stallions, Palm Trees, Sugar Skulls, Deer, Horse, Jaws and Hummingbird! Email dreamingwolfonline@gmail.com for info or purchase!
